How it all started,

Back in 1976 I was reading in a local newspaper “Radioamateurs open a new clubhous in Gent”, the OVRC. After a visit that night my interest in this hobby was born. After a few visits to this club I enrolled as a member of the UBA, the “Union of Belgian radio Amateurs”, where I got a SWL number: ONL4427. After 11 years having been a SWL and receptionamateur, I started to study the theory and the legal requirements, and participated at the exam to become an authorisation to emmit, something which can hardly be called a succes in the beginning

Thanks to the enormous support and encouragement of my teacher and mentor, Johannes ON4HX, I passed the exam and became an authorisation Category A. The call ID which I got was ON2ABC. Plenty of years I have been active on VHF (144-146 MHz). Some years later…again thanks to the help of my mentor and a few friends I passed the exam Category B and get the call ID ON1CJP, but with this I haven’t made almost no qso’s or connections, because in the meantime I also passed the CW or morse exam, again thanks to Jean ON4HX, who has been year after year THE teacher for CW and theory in the club, and in notime I got the so desired full licence for Category C, with the call ON4BBW, which in the meantime became ON6OM. My interest is mainly focused on contests in SSB and RTTY, the digital modes which I use most are PSK and RTTY.My log happens with DX4WIN and the contests happen with N1MM (free), for the digital mode I use PSK in DX4WIN but the software MixW of UT2UZ and UU9JDR and MMTTY of of JE3HHT is a very good Free Software !
